Q
Are you licensed, bonded, and insured to work as an arborist in Connecticut?
Yes, we are. Being licensed, bonded, and insured protects our customers so they can feel confident in working with us before we even give an estimate. Please see the information about our company in the footer or as listed above for more details.

Q
One of my trees is leaning – will cabling be able to straighten it?
The primary use of cabling is to reinforce the structure of a tree. Cabling may be able to cause the limbs of a tree to grow more in a vertical direction, but straightening the entire tree is not the job of cabling. For that, guying is more likely the answer. Please feel free to contact us for an evaluation to see how we can help in your particular situation.

Q
A branch snapped on my property in the middle of the night, and it is endangering my property. How quickly can you remove it?
Give us a call, and we will be out there as soon as possible. As safety permits, we will do everything we can to eliminate any threat to your property from trees or branches.

Q
What are the advantages of stump grinding over removal?
There are several benefits including (1) Cost – in many cases grinding a stump is cheaper than removing it completely (2) Time – because the labor involved in removing a stump is more than that for grinding, it usually takes quite a bit longer (3) Impact – grinding very specifically targets only the stump and only the parts you need removed, thus not tearing up more of your yard than necessary.

Q
Do a stump’s roots die after the stump is ground away?
Most of the time, yes, the roots will remain underground and decompose. However, for trees that tend to produce root sprouts such as many deciduous trees, remaining roots can produce new trees even after a stump has been ground away. We offer additional services for these situations.

Q
What times of year are your tree planting services available?
We typically plant trees between October and March. The earlier we plant, the more options we have both in terms of availability and survival.

Q
Can I buy trees through you, or do I need to buy them separately?
While you are welcome to buy trees on your own and have us plant them, our tree planting services include the option of having us do the shopping for you. We have good relationships with several nurseries in the area and can get a great deal for you. Not to mention that our arborists will be able to tell whether the trees we are purchasing are healthy and of good quality – if you buy the tree, that responsibility will rest on you.

Q
Do you assist in the choosing of trees to plant on my property?
Our certified arborists will certainly help in the selection of the best kind of trees for your budget and landscaping needs. Our goal is to find the right kind of tree for the right place on your property to meet your goals with a lasting solution.

Q
Can I use a chainsaw to grind a stump rather than a stump grinder?
No. This is not a good idea. A stump grinder is designed to interact with both wood and dirt, whereas a chainsaw chain will become dull quickly upon contact with the ground, making the work harder and harder with time and probably requiring a new chain after the job is done. Besides, a stump grinder is far faster.

Q
When should cabling rather than pruning be done?
Cabling is almost always done in conjunction with pruning. Pruning helps to reduce the weight that a trunk or limb must support while the Cobra cable adds the needed extra measure of strength. The experts at TREE SERVICES COMPANY will be the best guides for achieving the proper balance between cabling and pruning to protect the life of your favorite trees.
